Many people love playing and even just watching softball games. Recreational sports are a great way stay in shape and meet people, too. The State Agency Softball League (SASL) is gearing up for the 2012 season which begins the first week of May. Everyone is invited to join us at the Regional Athletic Complex (RAC) and spend time with your friends and family while you watch agency teams contend against each other in friendly competition. The SASL plays on Monday and Tuesday nights, May through the end of July, and is comprised of twenty-six teams representing twenty-three state agencies from the greater Olympia area.

Watching games at the RAC offers the fans opportunities to engage in other recreational sports too while they visit. Soccer fields and basketball courts are open for use as well as miles of paved paths for walking and jogging. Several climbing toys are on site for children to navigate and explore. Bring some barbeque foods and briquettes and fire up one of the grills near a covered picnic shelter or choose stadium food from the on-site concessionaire.

Recreation softball participation promotes camaraderie and a sense of community. So no matter what your level of athletic ability and interest, playing in the SASL may be the summer sport for you!

Teams are forming now, so if you are interested in joining a team or forming a team, send a note to Jim Keogh, jimk@oic.wa.gov or give him a call at (360) 725-7056.
