Associa Cares and MAMCO Property Management Donate to ...

WASHINGTON, D.C. ? March 14, 2013 ? (RealEstateRama) ? Associa Cares, the philanthropic arm of Associa, assisted more than 50 families affected by the devastation of Hurricane Sandy from November through January, with efforts ongoing.

The superstorm, with damages of more than $71 billion, left an estimated 380,000 homeowners throughout the Mid-Atlantic coast without electricity and with significant wind and water damage.

Associa Cares provides timely and prompt response to individuals in need, regardless if they live in an Associa-managed community. Before the storm made landfall, Associa Cares began working behind the scenes, pre-approving $250,000 to assist families affected by the devastation.

?While no amount of money can make up for emotional damage caused by this superstorm, we hope we aided the individuals and families, and their lives can return to normalcy as quickly as possible,? said Joey Carona, president of Associa Cares.

Associa?s MAMCO Property Management in Mount Laurel, N.J. provided assistance to more than 30 individuals and families through Associa Cares.

Three families in Ocean City, N.J. lost all of their belongings, while a man less than a half hour away in nearby Sea Isle City was left with five feet of sand inside his home after the storm subsided. A Sea Isle entrepreneur also lost her ice cream shop.

In Mystic Island, a woman found her home two streets over. Another woman evacuated her home with only the clothes on her back. Another family lost everything.

In Atlantic City, four homeowners lost their homes, or were left with an uninhabitable residence.

In Ventnor City, FEMA declared a woman?s home uninhabitable.
